Searching Gmail – How To?

August 2nd, 2011

I often get questions about search and filtration (if there is such a word) in Gmail.
The questions are always how to show only Unread email or from specific people etc…
Gmail is obviously one of the largest (if not the largest) free email provider.
I would be nicer to have simpler filtration system with a GUI of some sort but let’s work with what we have.

Let’s Start
Unread Emails – from everyone
In the search bar should be placed in: unread and click on Search, all unread emails appear

Unread Email – from someone
Let’s say you want to see all the unread email’s I’ve sent you (thanks for not reading my emails by the way)
In the search bar write in: unread from: yeshai and hit search (now you can delete all my emails)

Of course you can find the subject basis as Subject:Yeshai

And there are more different abbreviations such as
l:^u – instead of in: unread
l:^ul: ^ k – mails deleted unread and still in the Trash

Do you have an interesting addition?
